Flam
Flam Winery, nestled in the Jerusalem Hills of Israel at the mouth of the Kisalon River, was created by two brothers with very different backgrounds - Gilad, a business and law graduate, and his brother, Golan, a winemaker with extensive prior training in Italy and Australia. In the context of what it takes to create a winning wine venture, the Flam brothers' respective expertises might very well constitute the perfect combination.
The brothers' choice of vineyards -- located in the Upper Galilee and the Judean Hills -- was the result of careful consideration, taking soil quality and climate into account. As a result of this and other key factors, Flam has been able to produce top-level quality Israeli wine with a unique Israeli identity. Substantial capital and human investment, vineyard nurturing, in-depth study of the components of wine, and advanced technologies are the guiding forces behind the winery's operations. Stringent production processes focus on the wine's deep hues, rich textures, prominent varietal flavors and long, smooth tannins.
In September 2005, Daniel Rogov, the Israel's preeminent wine critic, referred to Flam as "one of the best wineries in [Israel]." In 2008, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate rated the Flam Reserve Cabernet 89 points.
