YATIR
Yatir Winery is a joint venture between the local winegrowers of Yatir Forest and Carmel Winery (Israel's biggest and oldest winery). Although connected to Carmel Winery, This little Boutique winery operated independently. The winery located at the southern Judean Hills at the edge of the desert and is situated at Tel Arad, an archaeological site with 3,000 years of history. Yatir Winery was launched in 2004 and is already regarded as one of Israel’s finest wineries.
The vineyards lie in Yatir Forest, up to 900 meters above sea level. 4 vineyards in the Yatir Forest, Israel's largest planted forest, which envelopes the vineyards, providing a unique terrior. Jerusalem pine, carob and olive trees radiate an aura of calm and tranquility.
The Winemaker, Eran Goldwasser, is a graduate from the University of Adelaide, Australia.
Yatir Winery was awarded two stars as one of Israel’s three best wineries in Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book 2007. Yatir Forest 2001 was awarded a Gold Medal in the International Challenge du Vin held in Bordeaux, France Yatir has won the three main red wine categories (Best Cabernet Sauvignon, Best Merlot, Best Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot blend) in Eshkol Hazahav – Israel’s premier wine tasting competition. Yatir wines have scored over 90 points in the BTI Testing Institute in Chicago, Wine Review Online & The Wine News.
